Growing up, I had a mum who was so beautiful, kind, and caring. She had such a big heart for others, but addiction changed her. It felt like I grew up without the one person I needed most. The mum I loved seemed lost, and I often felt unloved in return. But now, I realise she does love me; she was just consumed by the darkness of drugs and alcohol. I truly believe that if she’d had an opportunity like this, our lives could have been so different.
